About the Artist

Welcome! I’m Gila, a Florida-based mosaic artist and former professional musician who creates whimsical and expressive portraiture by blending traditional mosaic materials with unexpected elements like teacups and crockery. My art is inspired by my extensive travels, especially across Asia, and my experiences teaching workshops internationally. Each piece I create seeks to capture the emotional depth and unique character of people and moments, often with a playful and colorful twist that invites viewers to see familiar materials and faces in a new way.

From my treks through the jungle to conducting musical ensembles at a university in Malaysia, these diverse experiences reveal themselves in every work.
