Portrait of a young man falling asleep as he reads. With the Desert Rose plate appearing under his arm & “knotted rug” beneath his foot, one gets a nostalgic feeling.  Certainly all readers can relate to nodding off while reading a good book.  There’s a lot of wonderful texture in this work, created by various rounded parts of broken dishes mixed with ceramic and glass. At 48” x 29” he makes a subtle, yet powerful statement.
