Beautiful Soul (Anat)

Doves call you to regain your serenity, reminding you to take a deep breath and release all your tension and stress.

Portrait of multi-talented artist Anat, who immigrated  to the US from Israel almost two decades ago.  After years of hard work and determination, she recently achieved her American citizenship.  I always admired her perseverance and dedication.  In the days and months following the horrific October 7th, 2023 terrorist attack in Israel (where I too have lived and have family) I watched her struggle as the entire world & so many of her new, fellow citizens turned against her, and all of us Jews.  As she speaks out for justice and humanity with a clear, steady voice, my admiration for her continues to grow.  Creating this portrait was my way to honor Anat, while raising my own spirits, even as tears often flowed uncontrollably as I worked.  In the words of Martin Luther King Jr,  “We must combine the toughness of the serpent with the softness of the dove, a tough mind, and a tender heart.”
